WebTL;DR: No, you don't have to play Drakengard 3 prior to NieR:Gestalt/Replicant, although this comes from someone who has only watched playthroughs of these games. Storywise you'd have to play Dragengard 1 anyways as it is the link between Drakengard 3 and Gestalt/Replicant. WebI hear that Drakengard 3 is worth playing while still being a lil clunky, and it came out after Nier and probably has the most connective tissue of them. I would recommend emulating it, because the PS3 version had horrible frame rate problems, and I’ve been trying it out myself and it looks pretty good at 4k and runs at a solid 60 fps.
