The forum is a treasure trove of … WebFeb 5, 2024 · TN9thSi. I have just over 9,000 miles on my 2024 V6 Touring. This morning I noticed a pronounced tick/rattle after starting the engine. It's barely perceptible at idle and starts when giving a light blip on the throttle. It went away completely after the engine was up to temp. The overnight low temp was ~25* and was ~40* when I started the car.

Verify that the rocker you suspect is ticking. 4. With the engine running, take a deep 15mm socket and tighten the rocker nut slightly untill tick goes away. I bet this solves your problem. WebSep 9, 2014 · It's caused by the hydraulic lifters in the engine. If they aren't full of oil, they can collapse when the cam comes around. The ticking is caused by them bottoming out, which doesn't happen when they're filled with oil. Everytime the engine sits, the oil drains out of the top of the engine (where the lifters are).
